Focus on Consequences Adolescents

This educational intervention for those 14 through 21 years of age is intended for those who have gotten in trouble because of alcohol or other drug possession or use. A highly trained interviewer meets with individuals in two brief sessions scheduled one week apart.This positive alternative utilizes a one-on-one format to help individuals identify their risky behaviors so they can avoid future negative consequences. The major program objective is to provide brief solution-oriented interventions, specifically the techniques used in motivational interviewing.

Interviewer guided discussions will provide participants with accurate information about:

  • The effects of alcohol and drug use
  • Societal norms about use
  • Potential consequences if the adolescent does not reduce or eliminate their alcohol/drug use.
